Christmas Flower Wall Inspiration – The Traditional Colors

It may only be September, but for anyone in retail, event or wedding planning, those crucial decisions for Christmas decor styling are already being made. Inspired by a Christmas Flower Wall we are creating for a large shopping mall in Canada, we thought we’d share some floral backdrop inspiration to for anyone thinking of having a flower wall at their wedding or event over the festive season.

Traditionally when we think of Christmas flowers, tones of red, white and deep green spring to mind along with pine cones, mistletoe and holly. These classic elements never go out of style and can easily be incorporated into a flower wall – our floral backdrops can also have non flora added in!

Kimye Flower Wall sent to Sweden

Over the weekend we created one of our Ready To Ship walls for a fantastic client in Sweden. Our Kimye wall in size 1.8m x 2.4m was hand made to order and sent on Monday, and it should arrive in Stockholm by the end of this week.

Be honest about your budget – This is one of the most important factors, right up there with design because it straight away lets us be able to recommend the right flowers and size for you, and to give advice on where you can save money or reduce costs to get something within you budget. Know your vision – We are more than happy to work with clients to create their dream wall, but we do need a starting point! The Flower Wall Company Holiday Closures

One of the curiosities of working in China is the holiday/vacation system. Completely unique and incomparable to any other national holidays elsewhere, we want to give advance warning of a major holiday coming up that will severely restrict production and shipping times.

First up, on September 26/27 is Mid Autumn Festival, and then after that is the second biggest holiday in China after New Year from 1st October- 7th October.

During these dates, we will not be able to ship at a discounted or create new orders during this time.

FAQ’s…

Why can’t you create anything at this time?

During Chinese national holidays, the country effectively shuts down (apart from retail, food and beverage and tourism). Our shipping company will have the whole holiday off, as will our factory and other suppliers, meaning we cannot ship anything at the amazing rate we do, nor can we order in new flowers to create new orders. China is very unique with it’s vacations, in that it’s one of the only times many of the workforce can return home to spend time with their families, and whilst not as restricted as Chinese New Year, for many businesses like us there is nothing you can do apart from plan in advance – like we are doing now!

So no one will be able to answer my questions?

During the above holiday dates we will have a skeleton staff operating, who can answer your questions, create sample images for if we have your chosen flowers in stock and send out invoices. What we can’t do is begin production on your wall. There will definitely be someone who will get back to your enquiries within 24 hours!

When is the cut off date for orders?

Depending on your size and colour scheme, any order received after 18th September will now be sent after 7th October.

I need my wall urgently, what can I do?

If we have flowers in stock to make your wall, we can send the wall with a foreign express company like DHL, Fedex etc, but there will be no discounted rate available, it will be the rates you can see on their websites, but we cannot order new flowers from our factory during 1st – 7th of October.

Requesting a sample flower wall

Even in 2015 there can be some apprehension buying a product on the internet that you have only seen in images, which we totally understand! When we consult with clients, we send multiple photo’s of the flowers and designs they will receiving, but sometimes pictures aren’t enough, what if you want to have a sample panel sent to you?

Great news is that we have always been happy to send a sample to clients. For a small fee plus shipping we will can send you a panel of the agreed upon design for you to check the colours and quality. If you go ahead with your purchase, we deduct the price of the panel off of your invoice. Unfortunately, we don’t send out samples free of charge!

Our sample flower wall service is a great way to have a glimpse at the full wall you’ll be getting, and usually you can receive your wall within 7 – 10 days.

Flower Wall silk roses – the good and the bad

We often get asked about the quality of the flower wall silk roses we use, so we thought we’d do a post to show the difference between what we call good and budget quality.

It’s safe to assume that most simulation flowers are made in China these days, so us being Shanghai puts us in a great position to see first hand the huge variety of choices, everything from unrealistic but cheap flowers right up to real touch with a fragrance. The flowers you decide on for your flower wall is all about your budget and the longevity you envision for your flower wall.

On this post today we will focus on pale cream roses – possibly the most popular type of flower we use! On the left in the image below is a high quality rose – thick, coated petals wrapped around a solid, covered core, each of these roses has around 25 petals, and is extremely robust. You can scrunch it up in your hand and it will retain it’s original shape.

High Quality vs Budget

The rose on the right is s budget rose, made of a very thin material and around only 17 petals, that aren’t tightly bound to a central core piece. If you scrunch this up in your hand, it will not return to it’s original shape and instead will end up looking distinctly un-rose like!

As you can see from the close ups, the budget rose on the left has a hole in the centre as there is no core piece, where as the rose on the right had petals glued to a covered core and is a lot more life like.

Seen here side by side, there is quite a difference in the quality, even from far away. We would never use the flower type on the left in our own designs, we would only offer this to clients who let us know their budget can’t perhaps stretch to the higher quality flower, which is why it’s important to let be upfront about what you would like to spend – it’s by far the best indicator as to what you can get for your money!
