We’ve been very vocal on the topic of Chinese manufacturers using our images to sell their low quality and design, and this week we have yet another two incidents of customers thinking they are either dealing with us, or the images they have been sent by a supplier are genuine when in fact the walls/archways have been designed and created by The Flower Wall Company.
This week, we saw a company in Europe posting our images to promote their own product and we knew they were not a client of ours, it’s no problem, usually a quick email solves this issue. But upon contacting the company, the client was confused as to why we were now asking them to remove the images…yes that’s right, the company in Europe thought they had already been dealing with us.
These shocking and deceptive tactics used by Alibaba manufacturers are nothing new, but to misrepresent us as a company is truly appalling. The European company had been duped into thinking they were getting flowers and flower walls from us, when in fact it was an Alibaba factory who we guarantee will use low quality imitations.
Our process explained:
We are in China, but we are not a factory, this means we are not bound into make one of a few types of flowers. We have over 15 different factories making our blooms, many to our own design and specification in colour and style, so much like the KFC or Coca Cola recipe, there is not one Alibaba seller who can claim to make a flower wall anything like ours as they simply do not have the resources, knowledge or background.
We also have non disclosure contracts, so our factories shouldn’t be selling our custom blooms to anyone else, and believe us, we check on a regular basis and being legal proceedings if a contract is broken. Why do we work with so many suppliers? Because we have been in China a long time now, know how to protect ourselves and certainly do not underestimate the scope of IP abuse. The ‘Big Four’ make a lot of money from consulting with local and international companies here advising them how to manufacturer AND protect their product at the same time, and whilst we might not be a giant like Coca Cola or a car company, the business fundamentals are no different.
The European company had been in dealings with a Chinese supplier who had used our images as a promotion of their own walls, when in reality the final product will be completely different. The European company was naturally confused and has also asked us if that means their order is cancelled, to which we had to let them know that they had not placed an order from us.
Misrepresenting who you are and the quality of your product is serious fraudulent offence in most Western countries, so we have written yet another blog post to highlight and create awareness of this problem.
In the second case this week, it was a US company who had once again been sent images from a Chinese manufacturer who claimed the images were theirs, and real. We can’t stress enough how Alibaba products are completely different from us and it’s nothing more than fraud to claim otherwise. The Alibaba sellers cannot possibly make the walls in the images,
If you are not a customer of ours but we see postings of our images, we will ask you to remove them, and then implore you to check with the company who sent you these images, as they will be 100% unrepresentative of the product you will be receiving. In other words… you have been lied to!
If this is the case, we welcome you to pass on your supplier information to us and we will be happy to deal with them.
How to know if you’re dealing with us:
You can buy direct from our website www.theflowerwallcompany.com, or email us firstname.lastname@example.org. We will never send an email from a non ‘theflowerwallcompany.com’ account, and you will only deal with one of two people, both native English speakers either email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. We will never contact you by ‘Whatsapp’ unless you ask us to, and we also welcome dealing with clients over the phone.
We have on average 4 inquiries a month from customers who either purchased a wall from Alibaba and it didn’t arrive, or it is really poor quality and have turned to us. We believe this is mostly because customers are being sent our images to get a quick sale, but the reality is no Alibaba or Chinese manufacturer can replicate the quality and design in the images.
If you think you have been duped and would like to check, email email@example.com and we will be happy to help.
