As the the new calendar year begins, another holiday draws upon us here in Shanghai – Chinese New Year!
Often described as the biggest migration of people in the world, the “Spring Festival” is China’s equivalent of Christmas, Easter, Eid, Hanukkah, Thanksgiving and any other holiday you can think of all rolled into one and then multiplied by a million, and is the only true time the country really shuts down as hundreds of millions of people return to their home towns.
What does that mean for us? For a two week period, we will not be able to dispatch or create new orders, as there are no manufacturers open, couriers, supplies to be bought….nothing! It’s such an important holiday here that you can not force any staff to work it, and if you are a hospitality business, you must pay your staff triple time if they volunteer to stay.
If you’ve already purchased your wall, we will continue to process your order and create your floral backdrop during the holiday time as we have planned ahead for the New Year shut down. We wont be able to dispatch any walls between 1st February and the 16th, as mentioned in our sale terms and conditions.
It’s a completely unique experience Chinese New Year and quite hard to explain if you’re living outside China! The country really will shut down, and we really cannot create or dispatch new orders for the first two weeks of February.
